Kagarko LGA Chairman Pledges to Enroll 500 Vulnerable Residents in Kaduna Health Scheme

The Chairman of Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna state, Muhuyideen Umar, said himself and his management would enroll 500 vulnerable persons into the state's healthcare scheme.

Umar made the pledge on Tuesday at a sensitisation meeting on enrollments of informal sector into the state's contributory health scheme at the local government headquarters in Kagarko.

The Chairman said the gesture was to compliment the effort of the state government by revamping the Primary Health Centers in the state.

"As you are aware, the state witnessed a total upgrade of primary health centres and we are here to compliment the effort by enrolling the most vulnerable persons within our own communities.

"We want to support them so that they can feel the impact of government because health is costly,"he said.

He disclosed that he and his management team discussed and made the commitment that would follow immediately.

"This pledge comes with immediate effect and is going to be championed by the Vice Chairman".

Umar hoped to register 3,000 persons next year with the budget of 30 million naira.

"As you're aware, we came on board and met the budget already, and since we are working within the law, by next year we hope to budget 30 million naira so as to enable us enrolled 3,000 persons in the local government area into the health scheme.

"This gesture aims to provide access to free healthcare services for vulnerable persons within the local government.

"It is also part of a broader effort to ensure that vulnerable populations are protected from healthcare poverty and financial risks.

"These initiatives are being carry out to improve healthcare access and reduce financial burdens on vulnerable populations,"he said.

He urged beneficiaries to seize the opportunity by accessing health care services in designated healthcare centers

"We cannot invest and the people are not accessing the package. They should come and get enrolled".

The chairman called on wealthy individuals and philanthropists to support the programme by enrolling more vulnerable persons to the scheme to achieved universal health.

Earlier in his remarks, the Director General of the Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority
(KADCHMA), Abubakar Hassan, appreciated the chairman and his council authority.

According to him, health insurance is the bridge from vulnerability to security, exclusion to inclusion and despair to dignity.

Hassan noted that KADCHMA is responsible for managing the state's health insurance scheme and aimed to ensure that all residents of the state have access to affordable and quality healthcare services.

He urged the chairman to ensure that intending couples registered with the scheme before getting married, noting that it would help them save cost.

The Director General appreciated religious and traditional rulers for their contributions and dedication for mobilising residents.(NAN)
