The Kaduna State Government, on Saturday reaffirmed its commitment to creating a more inclusive society where children can thrive, grow, and reach their full potential.
The Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, Hajiya Rabi Salisu, made the commitments during the Children’s Day Party held at the football field, Snake Island, 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital(NARH), Kaduna.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event had its themed ‘Stand Up, Speak Up, Building a Bullying-free Generation’.
Salisu emphasised that every child, regardless of background, ability, or circumstance, deserved to be heard, valued, and catered for.
The commissioner highlighted the government’s notable achievements in promoting children’s development and education.
They included providing free and quality education for all children, constructing 62 new Secondary schools, building 2,326 new classrooms, and renovating 707 classrooms.
Others included recruiting over 2,000 qualified teachers and training over 26,000 teachers on basic computer skills, classroom management, and literacy and numeracy skills.
Others were the distribution of 1,482,816 sets of instructional materials to schools as well as supporting girl-child education through the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project.
Salisu further listed the achievements to include enrolling 10,000 Almajiris into formal school systems and establishing initiatives to address the issue of out-of-school children.
She emphasised the importance of working together to provide opportunities, support, and love to children, empowering them to become the leaders and change-makers of tomorrow.
She commended the Chief Medical Director of the hospital for promoting the rights of children and appreciated the children from Comilla Barracks and Hospital staffers.
The commissioner reiterated the government’s commitment to improving and transforming the lives of children in more inclusive learning, mentorship, nurturing enabling environments, and in areas of access to quality education, healthcare.l, and social protection services.
Earlier, the host , Chief Medical Director (CMD), 44NARHK Brig.-Gen. Godwin Ogoh, said the event was a very special occasion meantt to honour children, describing as precious gifts.
Ogoh said, “Children are the hopes of tomorrow and the dreams of today.
“Their laughter, curiosity, energy, and creativity light up our lives and remind us of the beauty of innocence and imagination.
“On this day, we celebrate not just their presence, but their potential — the endless possibilities that lie ahead of them.
“To all our wonderful children here, ” You are unique, talented, and capable of amazing things.”
Ogoh urged the children to never stop dreaming, exploring, or believing in themselves.
He continued, “Today is your day – a day to smile, play, laugh, and be celebrated for everything that makes you who you are.”
Ogoh appreciated parents, teachers, and the organisers who worked tirelessly to support and guide these young minds.
