The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Walson-Jack, says Nigeria will continue to be positioned as regional leader in public service innovation and transformation.
She stated this at the opening of a one-day retreat for the Heads of Service of the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Tuesday in Katsina.
“Let us seize this opportunity to further position Nigeria as a regional leader in public service innovation and transformation.
“Distinguished colleagues, it is no longer sufficient to rely on traditional bureaucratic models.
“We must continue to embrace reforms that prioritise accountability, efficiency, and agility,” she said.
Walson-Jack explained that the theme of this year’s retreat is: “The Future of Nigerian Civil Service: Harnessing Federal-State Collaboration for Accelerated Development”.
According to her, the theme aligned with the slogan: ‘2025: Year of accomplishment’.
She, therefore, said the gathering had afforded them a unique opportunity to reflect, recalibrate, and renew collective commitment to the principles of efficient public administration and transformative service delivery.
“This retreat is holding at a critical juncture in our nation’s development journey – when the expectations of citizens from government institutions are higher than ever.
“As Heads of Service, we are entrusted with the solemn responsibility of shaping the engine room of governance – the Civil Service.
“This includes strengthening Human Resource Management through the full implementation of the Comprehensive Competency Framework, institutionalising Performance Management Systems.
“And upholding the values enshrined in our Code of Ethics and the Public Service Rules,” the head of the civil service of the federation, said.
In his remarks, the Katsina State Head of Service, Alhaji Falalu Bawale, appreciated Walson-Jack coming up with many initiatives to enhance civil service delivery.
He revealed that the state government had done a lot to boost the performances of its civil servants. (NAN)
