The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Katsina Command, has distributed some essential food items to less privileged people in the state
The NSCDC Commandant, Aminu Datti, who distributed the food items to beneficiaries in the Katsina metropolis, on Thursday, said the gesture was necessary due to hardship arising from the economic situation in the country.
Datti emphasised the importance of extending hands of assistance to the less privileged and vulnerable members of the public, especially during this period of Ramadan.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the food items shared to mostly vulnerable women and elderly people included rice, spaghettii, among other things.
The distribution began the from the NSCDC state headquarters, through IBB Way to Kandahar Juma’at Mosque, down to Daki Tara-Kofar Soro and Gambarawa Quarters.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed much happiness, gratitude and prayed to Almighty Allah to guide and bless the Commandant for his generosity and compassion.
Also, Datti, on behalf of the NSCDC Commandant General, Ahmed Audi, presented a cheque of N148,000 to the family of a deceased personnel, Musa Abdu.
According to him, the gesture was in line with the Corps’ commitment to the welfare of personnel, including families of those deceased.
He said that group life insurance was also part of the death benefits of personnel who died in active service, saying Musa Abdu was one of those in this category.
NAN reports that Malam Nura Shehu, who received the cheque on behalf of the family of the deceased personnel, commended the NSCDC for the support.
