The Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), has made clarifications on allegations raised by former governor Nasir El-rufai related to the agency, while debunking misinformation on revenue performance.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday in Kaduna, the Executive Chairman of the KADIRS, Mr Jerry Adams, said
the state has consistently remained at the forefront of national interest due to its remarkable leadership and governance.
He said the state's transformative impact is evident under Governor Uba Sani's administration, which prioritises inclusive governance, integrity, and transparency.
As citizens, Adams said it is essential to distinguish between facts and fiction, especially regarding the KADIRS.
He emphasised that El-Rufai's allegations that the previous KADIRS administration generated 7 billion naira monthly in internally generated revenue (IGR) was not factual.
"Between 2019 and 2023, KADIRS collected a maximum of N59 billion in 2022, translating to a monthly average of N4.9 billion.
"A significant portion of revenue reported during that period came from one-off recoveries and sales of government properties.
"In spite of these recoveries, KADIRS lacked investment, resulting in insufficient vehicles, poor staff welfare, and dilapidated office infrastructure.
"Under Governor Uba Sani's leadership, the government has implemented robust reforms, introducing the PAYKADUNA Portal and online revenue collection channels.
"These initiatives have improved revenue collection and efficiency, with Kaduna State recording an IGR of ₦62.48 billion in 2023 and ₦71 billion in 2024,"he said.
According to the executive chairman, Kaduna state led in IGR performance in northern Nigeria in 2023 and is one of the leading sub-national IRS nationwide.
He disclosed that in January and February 2025, Kaduna State collected N7.46 billion and N6.68 billion, respectively, totaling N14.16 billion.
This, he said demonstrated the administration's commitment to revenue mobilisation and sustainable governance.
Adams noted that the KADIRS has centralised all IGR-related data into a single database to enable data-driven decision-making and improve revenue forecasting.
He equally said the state government is also implementing measures to own and control revenue collection technologies.
He, therefore, said claims by former Governor El-rufai that the previous Executive Chairman of the KADIRS was removed for unfounded reasons was false.
He explained that the former Chairman served his full four-year tenure, where the Governor made a new appointment thereafter.
"Allegations of KADIRS facilitating transfers of N100 million to an unknown individual are also false.
"The state's revenue collection process is automated, with payments made through the PAYKADUNA portal and instantly swept into the state's Treasury Single Account (TSA).
"As a responsible leader, i prioritise accountability and results, leading a competent team that exceeds revenue targets,"he said.
The executive chairman restated the KADIRS committed to mobilising resources for sustainable development and improved service delivery.
He said agency would continue to publish verified revenue performance reports periodically.
He expressed gratitude to Governor Uba Sani, the Kaduna State Executive Council, and the people of Kaduna State for their support while urging the media to uphold the truth and support narratives that contribute to the state's development.(NAN)
