DICON Corps Member Donates 100 Mobility Aids To People With Disabilities

In a remarkable act of service to humanity Mr Fuki Solomon Benjamin  a corps member serving at the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) has today 18 March  2025, facilitated the donation of 100 Mobility Aids to individuals living with disabilities. 

This donation which was part of Solomon s Community Development Service Project  was achieved in collaboration with *Beautiful Gate Handicapped People's Centre* (BITHUNT), a Non- governmental Organization based in Jos Plateau State. 

In his remarks, the Director General ( DG)  DICON commended the corps member for distinguishing himself through such a laudable initiative.

The DG represented by the Director Human Resources Management, Miss Mercy Phillips asserted that DICON had already created a condusive atmosphere for corps members to explore their potentials through initiating  projects that have direct impact to the host community. Miss Mercy further enjoined other corps members to emulate same kind gesture to give hope to hopeless. 

Earlier in his remarks, the State Coordinator of NYSC in Kaduna, Mr Hassan Taura, expressed gratitude to the sponsors and stakeholders who supported the realisation of the the  project .  

The State coordinator represented by the Assistant Director Community Development Mr Samaila Haruna affirmed  that history would forever remember Corps Member Solomon Benjamin  for his excellent show of dedication, empathy and humanitarian gesture that impacted  on people with disabilities.

 He added that  Community Development Service was one of the Cardinals of NYSC thereby encouraging other Corps members to follow  the footsteps of the project initiator by actively contributing to their host communities. . Mr Haruna also emphasized that Community Development Service projects fosters  a sense of shared identity and purpose among the people of Nigeria.

The event was attended by several notable figures, which included the representatives of the State Coordinator  NYSC Kaduna, a Executive Secretary   Beautiful Gate Handicapped People's Centre  Jos, Executive Secretary of the Disability Commission among several others.

Highlight of the event included the symbolic presentation of the mobility aids , a heartfelt vote of thanks from one of the beneficiaries and health tips presentation to encourage people living with disabilities.
