NANS commend Governor Uba Sani for cutting down state-owned tertiary institutions fees

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone A, has expressed gratitude to Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani for reducing school fees in state-owned tertiary institutions.

In a statement on Tuesday in Kaduna, the NANS Secretary General, Zone A, Ibrahim Bashir, thanked Governor Uba Sani for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the advancement of education in Kaduna State.

Bashir stated that the recent downward review of school fees across tertiary institutions in the state is a monumental step that demonstrated the governor's dedication to fostering inclusive and affordable education for all. 

"In a time when economic challenges have placed significant financial burdens on students and their families, Uba Sani's decision to reduce fees by as much as 50 per cent in some institutions is nothing short of a lifeline to thousands of struggling students,"he said.

According to him, the proactive initiative would not only encourage higher enrollment but also ensure that many students who might have been forced to drop out due to financial constraints continue their education with renewed hope. 

Describing governor Sani as a leader with deep sense of empathy, prioritising the needs of the people particularly the youth who are the backbone of the nation's future, the secretary general said provision of affordable and quality education is part of the critical components that makes a responsive government.

"Uba Sani's administration's responsiveness to the concerns of students as demonstrated in this decision, solidifies his legacy as a governor who listens and acts in the best interest of the people.

"This act of benevolence will forever be remembered in the annals of Kaduna State’s educational history, and we, the students, pledge our unwavering support for his continued efforts to develop the state and empower its youth,"he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Kaduna State government, on Monday, March 17, in a statement announced a reduction in student registration fees for state-owned tertiary institutions.

According to the statement, the registration fee for Kaduna State University (KASU) has been reduced from ₦150,000 to ₦105,000, while the registration fee for Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic has been reduced from ₦100,000 to ₦50,000.
