NDE, Bani Talib Trust train 110 Katsina youths on vocational skills

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE), in collaboration with the Bani Talib Trust, a family group, has successfully trained 110 youths in Katsina State on various vocational skills.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony in Katsina on Wednesday, Alhaji Mahey Rasheed, Chairman of  Bani Talib Trust, gave a brief history of the firm’s initiative and commitment to community development.

Rasheed said that the first phase of the programme benefited 60 youths, while the second phase, benefited 50 youths totaling 110 youths.

He said that the youths were trained on tailoring, mobile phone repair, welding, electrical works, computer literacy, plaster of paris (POP) and poultry.

 

He said that the training was aimed at tackling unemployment in the state.

 

“As part of our community outreach, Bani Talib Trust procured fabrics and traditional attires, which the trainees in tailoring used to sow clothes that was distributed to the orphans,” Rasheed said.

 

Malam Danjuma Shehu, the NDE Zonal Director in Katsina, who represented the Director General, said that the programme was designed to reduce unemployment in the state.

 

He urged other organisations to emulate the initiative.

Hajiya Binta Dangani, Director General of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), conveyed the appreciation of the Katsina State Government on the initiative.

 

She commended the collaborative efforts of the NDE and the organisation while reaffirming Gov. Dikko Radda’s commitment to empowering women and youths.

She enjoined the beneficiaries to leverage their newly acquired skills for self-sufficiency and contribute to the economic growth of their communities.

Dr Suhayb Sanusi-Rafindadi, the initiator of the training programme, and a member of the Bani Talib Family, commended the governor for his leadership and commitment to youth and women empowerment.

He appreciated the stakeholders for their involvement in the successful execution of the programme.

Some of the beneficiaries, who spoke during the event, expressed their enthusiasm and readiness to utilise their new skills to improve their livelihood.
