The Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has strongly condemned the brutal killing of 24 hunters from the North in Uromi, Edo State, who fell victim to jungle justice.
In a statement on Friday in Kaduna by Isah Abubakar, the NYCN's National President, he said such senseless act highlights the dangers of mob justice and the need for authorities to take decisive action.
Abubakar demanded that the Federal Government and the Edo State Government take immediate action to condemn the murder, offer financial compensation to the victims' families, and ensure justice is served by identifying and prosecuting the perpetrators.
Furthermore, he urged the authorities to address the root causes of jungle justice, including the lack of faith in the justice system and the need for community-based initiatives to promote peace and understanding.
The National President noted that the Northern Youth Council stands in solidarity with the families of the victims and demands justice for the fallen hunters.
