The Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), has expressed total dismay in the lopsided and regionalized appointments, particularly in the Nigeria security architecture by President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement issued to newsmen on Thursday in Kaduna by the NYCN's President, Isah Abubakar, said that the recent appointment of the DG of the DSS a few days after the appointment of the CJN has proved the regional representation imbalance of power by the President.
Abubakar noted that Nigeria, being a cosmopolitan entity, should have affective collaboration and synergy across its regions where no region or ethnic group should be favoured over others.
He noted that while some may see as a coincidence the appointments of Yorubas as the IG of Nigeria Police, CG of Nigeria Customs , Chief of Army staff, Chairman of the EFCC and recently DG of DSS and the CJN, a lot of Nigerians see it as deliberate opportunity to favour the South-West, particularly the Yorubas.
He equally noted that for those who have been following the NYCN's activities would recall that the NYCN took similar stands and position when former President Buhari made lopsided and regionalized appointments filled with nepotism in favour of the North.
"President Tinubu should know that Nigerians see him as a Nationalist, as such, expects him not to tow the wrong path of nepotism in his appointments into heads of security agencies like former President Buhari.
"The President, while trying to address Nigeria's security challenges should at the same time ensure a fair, just and united society for all citizens,"Abubakar said.
He called on the President to consider removing and replacing the Ministers of Defence with more capable persons, stressing that security challenges particularly in the North are getting worse.
