Pulse.ng : Kaduna Red Cross Inaugurates New Executives

The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS), Kaduna State Branch, on Monday swore in new executives following an election held to serve a four-year term.

Presiding over the swearing-in was Chief Magistrate Salisu Sallama, who serves as the Chairman of the Kano Branch and the North-West Zone. He led a delegation of observers from the NRCS National Headquarters, which included Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Ngaski, Sufyan Abdulmutallab, and Alhaji Musa D. Abdullahi.

The ceremony affirmed the leadership of Alhaji Abdullahi Jibrin, who was re-elected as Branch Chairman for a second term.

In his address, Chief Magistrate Sallama commended the Kaduna Branch for its transparency and orderly electoral process.

“The peaceful and democratic transition of leadership we have witnessed here today is a testament to the strength and integrity of the Red Cross movement in Kaduna State,” he said.

“I have full confidence that this newly constituted team will build upon past successes and expand the branch's vital humanitarian work,” he added.

The electoral college, composed of 23 Divisional Secretaries from across the state, cast their votes to fill various positions on the branch's governance board.

The result produced a blend of experienced hands and fresh perspectives, with five new members joining the executive team.

The newly sworn-in executives are a diverse group of professionals tasked with steering the branch's key operational areas. They are:

Division Development Adviser: Hon. Bako Haruna
Communication Adviser: Mrs. Jacqueline O. Adebija
Training Adviser: Apollos M. Shinkut
Legal Adviser: Barr. Abdulraf’u Atiku
Youth and Gender Adviser: Dr. Bode Adesanya
Programme Planning Adviser: Dr. Umar Muhammad
Disaster Management Adviser: Dr. Yakubu Bobai Akut
Resource Mobilisation Adviser: Hon. Ado Dogo Audu
Health and Care Adviser: Prof. Kabir Sabitu
Finance and Property Adviser: Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gwale

Following his re-election, Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Jibrin expressed his gratitude for the trust reposed in him and his team.

“This is not just a position; it is a sacred trust to serve humanity. Our focus for this next term will be on strengthening community-based interventions, enhancing disaster response capabilities, and mobilizing the resources necessary to meet the growing humanitarian needs in Kaduna State.

We are energized and ready to work,” he stated.

The Nigerian Red Cross Society, as an auxiliary to public authorities, provides a wide range of humanitarian services, including disaster management, health promotion, and first aid training.

The newly inaugurated Kaduna Branch Executive Committee is expected to play a pivotal role in coordinating these efforts at the state level.

The Kaduna State Branch of the Nigerian Red Cross Society is one of the oldest branches of the National Society—a voluntary humanitarian organization established to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found.

It is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the world’s largest humanitarian network.
