The state Coordinator of NYSC in Kaduna, Mrs. Efeke Dadaza, has assured the 2025 Batch 'C' corps members of the scheme’s commitment to their welfare, as she appealed to the Kaduna State Government for additional assistance to enhance camp operations.

Speaking at the swearing-in and opening ceremony of the 2025 batch 'C' orientation course on Friday in Kaduna, Dadaza commended Governor Uba Sani's consistent support for the scheme.

She described his presence in the NYSC affairs in the state as a reflection of his belief in the objectives of the scheme and his longstanding goodwill toward corps members.

She said the orientation course remained the first cardinal programme of the service year, designed to prepare corps members through lectures, leadership training, drills, self-defence sessions and language instruction to enhance communication with host communities.

According to her, the scheme is also equipping the corps members with vocational and entrepreneurship skills to reduce unemployment and promote self-reliance after service.

Dadaza disclosed that the camp recorded a combined total of corps members deployed to Kaduna State and the Federal Capital Territory, noting that they had so far displayed good conduct since registration commenced.

She expressed deep appreciation to Governor Sani for the provision of a brand new JMC Hilux vehicle to ease monitoring of corps locations, the inauguration of the state NYSC governing board, and approval of ongoing renovation projects in the camp.

She said they include the reconstruction of the pavilion, renovation of the dilapidated hall, drilling of four boreholes, installation of solar street lights and supply of 2,000 plastic chairs.

The coordinator said the improvements have made the camp more conducive for the orientation exercise.

The coordinator also appealed to the governor to consider long-standing requests, including augmentation of camp feeding, payment of stipends to corps members serving in the state, and provision of bunks and mattresses, stressing that corps members rely on government support to carry out their duties effectively.

She further appreciated the Chairman of the NYSC State Governing Board, Barrister Gloria Ibrahim, for her commitment to the scheme, as well as all collaborating agencies and partners whose contributions ensured the smooth take-off of the exercise.

Dadaza advised the corps members to participate fully in all camp activities, reminding them that while the scheme rewards excellence, it also punishes indiscipline.

She encouraged them to uphold the values of diligence, commitment and respect for camp rules.

Earlier in his address, Governor Uba Sani congratulated the corps members and urged them to serve with discipline, patriotism and a commitment to national unity.

Sani, represented by Gloria Ibrahim, Commissioner of Youth Development, reaffirmed the state government’s resolve to ensure their safety and support NYSC operations in Kaduna.(NAN)
