The Chairman of Chikun Local Government Area., Salasi Nuhu-Musa have been decorated as the Local Government Ambassador for the State Contributory Health Scheme after pledging to enrolled 1,000 vulnerable individual.
The decoration was made by the Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority in collaboration with Engender Health led consortium Partners on Friday in Kaduna during a sensitisation meeting on informal sector enrolment, held at the local government headquarters in Kujama.
The meeting was attended by the Director General of the State Contributory Health Management Authority, Abubakar Hassan.
Nuhu-Musa said the enrollment of the 1,000 vulnerable was to promote service delivery in the local government area and complement the state’s recent efforts in upgrading Primary Health Centres by ensuring that vulnerable individuals in local communities benefited from improved healthcare services.
" We are here to compliment the promises made by our Governor years ago on the health sector and I want to assure you that it is doable, achievable and measurable.
" We are taking the message to the grassroots because it is an opportunity that should not be taken for granted.
" I believe by next year,more enrollment will be made into the scheme.
"We must keep building on this achievement and continue working towards the goal to achieved universal health coverage ,” he said.
The Chairman said he will engaged law makers, philanthropist and companies in the local government area to enrolled more vulnerable as part of their cooperate responsibility.
He said the gabs the local government was having issues lack of proper information and knowledge about the health scheme.
In a good will message, the Secretary of Chikun Chiefdom Sunday Garba- Makama appreciated the state government for the laudable programme adding that the chiefdom will embark on continuous sensitisation at the grassroots to ensure more enrollment into the scheme.
Earlier in his remarks, Director General of the Health Authority, Abubakar Hassan, commended the Chairman and council authorities for their leadership.
He said the sensitisation was aimed to gain endorsement and mobilised grassroots support.
He also added that the sensitisation was organised to engage organised groups for structured dissemination of information and to provide a platform for broader community dialogue and awareness.
He described health insurance as a vital tool for bridging the gap between vulnerability and security, exclusion and inclusion, despair and dignity.
Hassan explained that the Contributory Health Management Authority was responsible for implementing and managing the state’s health insurance scheme, with the goal of ensuring that all residents had access to affordable and quality healthcare.
He also encouraged the chairman to ensure that intending couples registered under the scheme before marriage to save on future healthcare costs.
The Director General appreciated religious and traditional leaders for their continued support in mobilising residents and promoting healthcare awareness in their communities. .(NAN)
