A Technical Committee, Framework for Responsible and Inclusive Land-Intensive Agricultural Investment (FRILIA), has visited two communities in Katsina State, for assessment that would guide decision-making on the proposed establishment of agro-allied processing plant.
It would be recalled that the Katsina State Government has signed a ₦2 billion Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Al-Hikma fertilizer and chemicals limited, Kano, for an agro-processing investment.
The state government allocated 150 hecters of land at Tashar-Bala and Rimin-Kaura in Batagarawa and Rimi local government area to company, for the project.
The Director-General Katsina State Investment Promotion Agency (KIPA), Alhaji Ibrahim Tukur-Jikamshi, said that the primary objective of the site visit was to familiarise the committee with the physical location.
According to him, that would assist to ensure proper identification and clear demarcation of the land.
The visit also provided an opportunity to assess the general suitability of the proposed site in line with FRILIA principles.
In addition, he said, the exercise has created a platform for direct engagement with host communities, to foster transparency, inclusiveness, and community participation in the investment process.
The committee is Chaired by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands and Survey, members were the Director-General, KIPA, Surveyor-General of the State; Director-General, Katsina Geographic Information Service (KATGIS) and the Director-General, Irrigation Authority.
Others were representatives of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), women leaders, and youth, among others.
The community delegation was led by Mannir Magaji of Tashar-Bala and Alhaji Abubakar Amadu of Rimin Kaura, respectively.
