1 Div. Nigerian Army operations recorded major security gains in 2025 – GOC



 The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Div. Nigerian Army, Kaduna,  Maj.-Gen Abubakar Wase, says it has recorded major security gains across its area of responsibility in 2025.

He said the gains included reduced kidnappings, curtailed cattle rustling, disrupted criminal networks, improved intelligence coordination, and safer communities through Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA.

Wase stated this at the 2025 West African Social Activities (WASA) programme on Satuday in Kaduna.

The News Agency of NIgeria (NAN) reports that WASA is an annual event showcasing rich cultural heritage and strengthening bonds among officers, soldiers, families, and host communities.

The celebration marked the end of training and operational activities within the calendar year.

Wase said the 2025 training directives of the division were effectively executed with professionalism and strict regimentation.

He described the training outcomes as a huge success in spite some realistic operational challenges.

The GOC disclosed that Joint Task Force Operation Fansan  Yamma drastically reduced security threats within the Division’s area of responsibility.

He added that joint operations with other security agencies curtailed cattle rustling, kidnapping, and other criminal activities.

Wase said the barracks community remains a melting pot of diverse cultures and social backgrounds.

He stated that WASA provided a platform for public interaction and appreciation of barracks traditions.

The GOC said WASA 2025 also honoured fallen heroes who paid the supreme sacrifice for Nigeria’s peace and unity.

He prayed for the repose of their souls and strength for their families.

He urged the officers and men to prepare for the challenges ahead and fully implement 2026 training activities.

Wase appreciated Gov. Uba Sani for supporting security agencies and  the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen Waidi Shaibu for his leadership and guidance.

The Special Guest of Honour, Sani, commended the Nigerian Army’s 1 Division for its dedication and resilience.

Represented by his Deputy, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, Sani said WASA remained a cherished Nigerian Army tradition that strengthens bonds between troops, their families, and civilian friends.

He added that WASA marked the end of a year of rigorous training while celebrating the rich cultural heritage of barracks communities.

Sani said the officers and soldiers of 1 division had demonstrated extraordinary commitment in discharging their constitutional responsibilities.

He, therefore, praised the division’s successes against kidnapping, cattle rustling as well as banditry across Kaduna State and surrounding areas.

Sani said the achievements had significantly improved peace and security within the state.

He commended the collaborative efforts of 1 division with other security agencies under Operation Fansan Yamma.

Sani described the gallantry and courage of the troops during operations as commendable and deeply appreciated.

Looking ahead to 2026, he assured the division of the state government’s continued support.

Sani urged the officers and soldiers to remain professional, resilient, and proactive in safeguarding Kaduna State and Nigeria.

The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that  awards were given to soldiers who distinguished themselves during year 2025.

NÀN also report that the Deputy Governor of Jigawa State Engr Aminu Usman Gumel also grace the occasion.
