The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has launched a digital call center that will enable it to improve service delivery to polytechnics and other colleges under its purview across the country.
Speaking during the launch of the center in Kaduna on Friday, the Executive Secretary of the board, Professor Idris Bugaje, said the establishment of the center “is an important milestone that will improve service delivery.”
He stressed, “This is part of our digitalization process that we have started in our polytechnics and institutions. With the launch of the center, it will further improve and facilitate information dissemination between the board and its institutions.”
“Before now, we have desk officers who are in charge of correspondences between the polytechnics and the board. Sometimes such correspondences got missing on transit. But now, our clients can reach us from every part of the country with just a call.”
The NBTE boss noted that what they were doing was not something new, noting that other companies like MTN, Airtel, NCC, and even private companies have call centers to enhance their service delivery.
He also said that for now, the center will be open for normal working hours every day for eight hours. The desk officers will remain as back up.
“We intend to expand the center by recruiting more personal as well as operating for 24 hours, he added.
Earlier, the Technical Assistant to the Executive Secretary, Dr. Babangida Albaba, said,” the call center is a cloud based centralized communication channel that every one seeking information from any part of the country can reach to us “.
“To make it more efficient, four staff have been trained and they’ll be receiving outgoing and incoming calls and correspondences from our clients across the country and even beyond.
“We have over 2,000 polytechnics, technical colleges, colleges of nursing, skills centers, survey institutions under our purview. With the center Information dissemination has been made simple.”
