The Dahiru Barau Mangal Foundation has commenced free hernia and hydrocele surgeries for more than 800 vulnerable people in Katsina State.
The procedures which commenced at the Katsina General Hospital on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, included surgical operations as well as post-operative care for the patients.
A member of the Board of Trustees of the foundation, Alhaji Hussaini Kabir, said that it is expected that over 800 people will benefit from this major health initiative.
According to Kabir, the surgeries will continue to be conducted on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, stating that this is not the first time such an initiative is being undertaken.
He added that apart from those that will undergo the surgery, other patients were initially screened and received medications.
The board of trustee's member further explained that the entire project is free of charge, fully sponsored by the Foundation.
According to him, from public awareness, screening, and the surgical procedures to the provision of medication were free.
Some of the beneficiaries of the programme expressed gratitude and offered prayers for the chairman of the Foundation, Alhaji Dahiru Barau Mangal.
They further called on the government, private organizations, wealthy individuals and other philanthropists to emulate the gesture.
