1 Division Organises High-Level Security Sector Stakeholders’ Engagement in Kaduna


The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army (NA) and Commander Sector 1 Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Maj- Gen.  Abubakar  Wase, hosted a high-level security stakeholders engagement today in Kaduna. 

This forum brought together representatives from various security agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders, captains of industry, business owners, and other key stakeholders to discuss strategies for preventing resurging security threats and ensuring peace and stability within the state.

The engagement provided a strategic platform to harmonise intelligence operations and reinforce joint responses across the Joint Operations Area.

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, represented by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Sule Shuaibu SAN, commended security agencies for their ongoing efforts to restore peace and maintain security in Kaduna. 

He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to combating insecurity, emphasizing the importance of not allowing criminals to disrupt the rule of law.

 The Governor urged security leaders to adopt non-kinetic methods for peacebuilding, such as community engagement, preventive diplomacy, and counter-narrative strategies, highlighting that sustainable peace is rooted in justice, development, and inclusion.

In his opening remarks, Maj-Gen. Wase stated that the engagement aimed to unite critical stakeholders to address current security challenges and develop a roadmap for a safer, more prosperous Kaduna State. 

He underscored the need for an honest assessment of the security landscape, identification of vulnerabilities, and enhanced methods of intelligence sharing and collaboration. 

He described the forum as a call for partnership and shared responsibility among government agencies, traditional rulers, community groups, civil society, and citizens for achieving peace and security.

The Emir of Birnin Gwari, Alhaji Zubairu Maigwari II, represented by the Chairman of Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, Honourable Salisu Isah, commended the collaboration between security agencies and traditional institutions, noting that the partnership enhances alternative dispute resolution processes and helps reduce case backlogs.

The event featured presentations, interactive sessions, and discussions aimed at fostering collaboration among all stakeholders involved in maintaining security in Kaduna.
