The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, and Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, have agreed on new measures to accelerate the completion of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road project, one of Nigeria’s most strategic highways.

At a meeting held on Friday in Abuja with the contractor handling the project, Messrs Infiouest International Limited, Umahi directed the company to expand work zones, particularly between Jere and Kaduna, to ensure speedy delivery.

He emphasized that the project, divided into two lots spanning 282 kilometres, is of top priority to President Bola Tinubu’s administration, with a total cost of N754 billion. He further ordered the contractor to deploy on four sections simultaneously and mandated the engineer’s representative to relocate to Kaduna for daily monitoring.

Governor Uba Sani expressed confidence in the quality and pace of work following the meeting, describing the road as a critical corridor linking about 12 states across the North-West, North-Central, and North-East.

He praised Umahi’s technical expertise and commitment, noting that the project would greatly enhance socio-economic activities once completed. The contractor’s Managing Director, Joseph Abou Jaounde, pledged to meet the minister’s directives and assured that significant milestones would be achieved within the next two weeks.

The Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road is a key transport link that supports trade, investment, and national integration. Both leaders reaffirmed that its completion will remain a priority under the Renewed Hope agenda of President Tinubu’s administration.
