Enhancing Communities Action for Peace and Better Health Initiative (e-CAPH) in collaboration with UNICEF Nigeria, the Society for Family Health (SFH), the Kaduna State Primary Health Care Board (KSPHCB), and the Kaduna State AIDS Control Agency (KADSACA), has conducted sensitization activities to commemorate the 2025 International Adolescent Health Week (iAHW2025).
In a statement issued to newsmen on Saturday in Kaduna, by Muhammed Kabir, the Communications Lead of e-CAPH, he explained that the initiative aimed to empower adolescents with accurate, age-appropriate information on health, hygiene, and wellbeing while encouraging positive attitudes and informed decision-making for a healthier and more confident generation.
He noted that earlier in the week, the e-CAPH team facilitated an interactive sensitisation session at Government Secondary School, Rigasa, Kaduna, where over 100 students participated in discussions and practical demonstrations.
Kabir said the session covered key issues such as menstrual hygiene management, mental health awareness, personal development, and the importance of accessing healthcare services without stigma or fear.
Kabir added that the engagement provided a safe and inclusive environment where students asked questions, shared experiences, and gained valuable knowledge to promote individual and community health.
He further stated that on October 16, 2025, e-CAPH and its partners visited Government Girls Secondary School, Dallet Kawo, in Kaduna North, reaching over 200 adolescent girls.
The team led sessions on health and hygiene, mental wellbeing, and gender equality and empowerment.
Kabir emphasised that the event highlighted the importance of creating safe spaces where adolescent girls can learn, grow, and make informed life choices confidently.
He noted that the activities collectively reached over 300 adolescents across two schools in Kaduna State.
He explained that the sensitisation sessions increased awareness of adolescent health, hygiene, and wellbeing, strengthened collaboration between civil society organizations, government agencies, and development partners, and promoted inclusive dialogue and youth engagement in health advocacy.
Kabir reaffirmed that through such sensitisation efforts, e-CAPH continues to demonstrate its commitment to advancing adolescent health and wellbeing.
By equipping young people with accurate information and reliable support systems, he said, the organisation is helping shape a generation that is informed, empowered, and ready to lead healthier lives.
"Every adolescent deserves the chance to learn, grow, and thrive in an environment that supports their health, dignity, and aspirations,"he said.
