The Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), has called for an evidence and accountability regarding allegations against Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the Broader issues of sexual harassment, the murder case of Mrs Iniubong Umoren and alleged assassination plots.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday in Kaduna, the NYCN expressed concern over comments recently made by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, in which she referenced personal safety concerns and unnamed political threats.

The youth body emphasized the need for transparency, due process, and credible evidence in public discourse.

The NYCN National President, Isah Abubakar, said the organization supports justice and the protection of all citizens, especially public officials and whistleblowers, but stressed that such claims must be substantiated through appropriate legal and investigative channels.

“We believe in the rule of law and the protection of all parties. In a democracy, accountability is vital, but it must be rooted in verified facts, not conjecture,” Abubakar stated.

Abubakar acknowledged that the matters being referenced have serious implications and called on relevant security agencies to carry out impartial investigations where necessary.

“We urge all stakeholders to allow the appropriate authorities to investigate and clarify the situation. Public confidence in our institutions depends on our ability to separate facts from speculation,” the NYCN said.

The Council also called on political leaders to demonstrate responsibility in their public statements and actions, underscoring the importance of national unity and peace.

Abubakar pledged the NYCN's commitment to continue advocating for justice, fairness, and ethical leadership, while encouraging citizens to remain guided by facts and due process in all matters of public concern.
