The Kaduna State Ministry of Health has begin a two days training for health workers on household mobilisation distribution of integrated Azityromycin drugs and treated insecticides nets.
Speaking during the training in Kaduna on Friday, Barde Usman , the social mobilisation officer of Chikun local government said the two days refresher training was a practical step on how to take measurements of the child .
He said the training is taking place in all the 23 local government areas of the state.
Usman said the training is part of a larger campaign to combat malaria by ensuring widespread access to proper use of Insecticide Treated Nets (ITN).
He said that the training covers various aspects of ITN distribution, including registration, mobilization and proper net usage.
” The goal is to reduce malaria transmission by providing nets to households and educating people on their effective use.
” This year’s distribution is not door to door but by distribution point.
” We have a distribution point where residents will come and collect their nets.
” We are given them token door to door as the drug is been administered,” Usman said.
He said advocacy visit have been conducted to Local Government Chairmen, District heads, Religious and community leaders for more sensitisation on the importance of mosquito nets and Azityromycin drugs.
According to him, implementation and distribution of cards commences after the training and it will last for four days.
” We are commencing the implementation immediately at the various wards for four days while the distribution of the nets will commence from 30 to July 3.
” Only six wards in Chikun LGA will be given the nets and they included: Yelwa, Kujama, Chikun, Gwagwalada, Sabon gari and kunai,” he said.
The mobilisation officer urge residents to comply by staying at home to get the drug administration and token for the nets.(NAN)
