The President of Northern Concensus Movement , Comrade Auwwal Aliyu has called on Nigerians to focused on how to unite the country to achieve peace in order to pave way for meaningful development in the country.

Aliyu made the call in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Kaduna.

He noted that Nigeria had been facing some challenges ranging from insecurity among others which brought about the collapse of peace, unity and meaningful development especially in northern and southern part of the country.

According to him, the menace of insecurity which included kidnapping, banditry and agitation for secession in the southern part of the country among many others had crippled economic progress in the region.

Aliyu expressed optimism that the nation would one day attain the dreams of its founding fathers.

"If Nigerians will agree and see that they have no other country and see themselves as brothers and and sisters, we will achieve greater development",he said.

He stresssed on the need for Nigerians to cooperate with each other and work towards making the country greater again.

" We have to work as a team, we should come to a round table to discuss Nigerias problems and prospect".

According to him, doing so would pave way for economy merriments and shielding of swords by any secessionist groups in the country.

"Nigerias problems are surmountable, we are Nigerians and our problems are Nigerians problem, we hold the mantle of finding solutions to our problems" he said.

"Peace and unity are the solutions to our problems in spite of various challenges bedeviling the nation, the need to uphold peace and unity regardless of religion, ethnicity and cultural differences is what we need".

He urged Nigerian leaders and followers to live up to the expectation of their first responsibility which according to him was Nigeria.

Aliyu further advised the citizenry to remain committed to the cause of building a better, developed and peaceful Nation notwithstanding the present challenges.

He also advised leaders to be patriotic and carry the followers along in their decision making and implementation processes for better knowledge and ideas on how best governance is run.

"You should lead with sincerity; honesty and fairness, accommodate every Nigerian , every Nigerian has right to live, do business and intermarry in any part of the country".

He stresssed the need for Nigerians to appreciate themselves, noting that togetherness gives strength.

"Once we decide to begin to splits our selves away, we will loose value and strength, we will not be appreciated even by smaller countries, we need to work towards achieving our goals of been greater again", Aliyu said. (NAN)

Buhari postpones scheduled medical trip to London

No reason has been provided for the postponement of what would have been Buhari's second medical trip to London in three months.

President Muhammadu Buhari has postponed his latest medical trip to London, hours after an announcement was made by the Presidency.

His spokesperson, Femi Adesina, had announced on Thursday, June 24, 2021 that he would jet to London on Friday, June 25 to meet with his doctors for a scheduled medical follow-up.

The trip was to last over two weeks, with the president scheduled to return in the second week of July.

Adesina announced on Friday afternoon that the trip has now been postponed indefinitely, without stating a reason.

"A new date will be announced in due course," he said.

The trip would have been Buhari's second two-week medical trip to London in three months.

The 78-year-old is a frequent medical tourist to the United Kingdom where he has spent around 200 days of his presidency since he was first elected in 2015.

His medical trips have proved controversial in the past when the president has stayed in London for extended periods, fueling speculations that he was too ill to lead the country.

The president's failure to significantly improve Nigeria's health sector has been touted by critics as one of the biggest failures of his administration.

But his media team insists he's simply loyal to the same doctors that have been treating him for decades.

"I think the president is wise and quite correct in his decision that he retains consistently the set of doctors who have ensured good health for himself," his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, said in March.
