The General overseer, Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, pastor Yohanna Buru has called on Muslims and Christians across the country to pray and fast for Almighty God to end the insecurity bedevilling the nation.
Buru said this on Wednesday while fielding questions to newsmen in Kaduna.
According to him, terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other insecurity matters had created a negative impact on Nigerias education and economic sectors especially in the north region.
He said in view of all these, many boarding schools and tertiary institutions in the northern part of the country had to close down due to attacks by gun-men.
Buru added that God is angry with the current situation in the country, noting that there is need for citizens to go back to the creator and ask for His forgiveness.
He urged the Imams and pastors in the country to be more committed toward praying for peace and stability of the nation.
He stressed that there was need to offer special prayers in the mid-nights in order for Almighty God to save the nation from these challenges facing it at present.
He stated that banditry, kidnapping and other forms of terrorism activities had affected all facets of human endeavours in the country such as education, agriculture, tourism , business and many other economic activities.
“Hence there is need to embark on ceaseless prayers and fasting in the country for Almighty God to bring to an end the increasing threat of insecurity challenges.
“As the world celebrates International Widow’s Day, hundreds of married women were turned into widowhood with plenty orphans due to insecurity challenges that is affecting the nation”.
He said the new trend of kidnapping school students had affected the educational sector in all the 19 states in the northern part of the country, hence called for the need for collaborative efforts toward tackling the situation.
“God listens to the cries of His people through prayers and fasting, we must go back to God to salvage the nation.
“I call on pastors and imams to embark on prayers for peace and stability in the country”, he said.
He further stated that in view of persistent high cost of foodstuffs across the country, government should do the needful by assist the citizens in form of palliatives to curb the hunger.
He reiterated that despite the security challenges disturbing the nation, prayer remained the only option to heal the nation against all the problems that was affecting it.
Buru also called on clerics to prayer for Nigerian Army toward succeeding in all its operations both home and abroad.
While appreciating the efforts of Civilian JTF, Vigilantes, hunters groups of Nigeria and the Para-military groups across the north, he appealed to Nigerians to be their brother’s keeper and pray for peace and stability of Nigeria.(NAN)
