The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation has announced Monday, February 24, 2025, as the date for its 11th Annual Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Lecture, which will take place in Bauchi, Bauchi State.
This was contained in a statement by the Director General of the Foundation, Engr. Dr. Abubakar Gambo Umar, made available on Thursday in Kaduna.
The annual lecture commemorates the life and legacy of Sir Ahmadu Bello, KBE, Sardauna of Sokoto, and Premier of the defunct Northern Region. It rotates among the 19 Northern states, with this year's edition organized in collaboration with the Bauchi State Government.
According to the statement, the theme for the 2025 lecture is "Nature’s Bounty: Turning Northern Nigeria’s Natural Resources into Sustainable Prosperity."
The statement said ,the discussion will center on harnessing Northern Nigeria’s rich natural resources, including agriculture, minerals, and water, for economic growth and development.
" Experts will also explore sustainable resource management, value addition, and job creation to address the region’s challenges of poverty, unemployment, and underdevelopment.
According to Engr. Dr. Umar,
"The North's natural resources hold the key to unlocking its economic potential. However, we must adopt a sustainable and inclusive approach to resource management to ensure that the benefits are shared equitably among all stakeholders."
He said high light of the event will feature will feature Memorial Lecture by Dr. Mansur Muhtar (Sarkin Bai Kano), former Vice President of the Islamic Development Bank and Chairman of the Bank of Industry.
Scholarship Presentations to indigent students of Bauchi State in tertiary institutions, awards presentation to distinguished Nigerians and medical outreach to provide healthcare services to the local community would also feature.
The event will attract top government officials, policymakers, and stakeholders, including Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Special Guest of Honour.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, Executive Governor of Gombe State and Chairman of the Northern States Governors' Forum will Chair the Occasion.
Governor Bala Mohammed, CON, Executive Governor of Bauchi State Chief Host.
Governors, lawmakers, ministers, heads of MDAs, traditional rulers, and other dignitaries.
The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation is dedicated to preserving the legacy of Sir Ahmadu Bello by promoting education, leadership, and economic development in Northern Nigeria.
The Foundation apologized for any inconvenience caused by the date change and expressed gratitude for the continued support of stakeholders.
The lecture aims to provide a strategic roadmap for sustainable development in Northern Nigeria, in line with the vision of the late Sardauna of Sokoto.
