The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General, Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has appealed to traders in the country to reduce the prices goods during the Ramadan.
The Sultan made the appeal in a statement issued by the Secretary-General, JNI, Prof. Khalid Aliyu, on Thursday in Kaduna.
He also called on Muslims in the country to embody the values of charity and compassion.
He further emphasised the importance of generosity, kindness, and selflessness during the holy month.
The Sultan appealed to the Federal and State governments, corporate bodies, philanthropists, entrepreneurs, and wealthy individuals to assist in making life easier for citizens during the fast.
He encouraged Muslims to pray fervently for themselves, their families, and the stability and prosperity of the country.
He also urged those involved in crimes, such as armed banditry and insurgency, to fear Allah and desist from violence.
The Sultan further emphasised the need for qualified scholars to conduct Quranic exegeses and commentary, warning against the proliferation of unqualified scholars.
“As the Muslim community prepares for Ramadan, let the period serves as a reminder of the importance of compassion, kindness, and generosity.
“By embracing these values, Muslims can foster a more harmonious and peaceful society during Ramadan and beyond, “Abubakar said.
He added that the JNI wishes the Nigerian Muslims an accepted Ramadan fast in advance and Ramadan Mubarak to all. (NAN)
