The Katsina government has urged personnel of the State Road Traffic Safety Agency (KASSAROTA), to display high sense of professionalism in the discharge of the duties.
The Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Dr Sani Magaji-Ingawa stated this at the inauguration of a five-day capacity building workshop for traffic wardens, on Monday in Katsina.
He charged the personnel to be professional, diligent and dedicated to their duties, to ensure safety of road users in the state.
“As the Commissioner Works, Housing, and Transport, I am committed to ensuring the safety of all roads in our state.
“Road traffic safety is a critical issue that affects us all. Every day, countless lives are lost due to the accident on the road, and many more are left with injuries.
“It is our responsibility to take proactive measures to prevent these tragedies from happening. I commend all for taking the initiative to participate in this training programme.
“As commanders and officers of the agency, you play a vital role in enforcing traffic laws, promoting road safety awareness, and ensuring the smooth flow of traffic on our roads.
“I urge you to approach your duties with diligence, professionalism and integrity. Be proactive in identifying potential hazards and address them before they lead to accidents,” he said.
He said that traffic wardens play crucial role in ensuring road safety, and urged them to pririotise sensitisation activities to create awareness as well as enforcement of traffic rules and regulations.
“Remember that your actions can make a difference in saving lives and preventing injuries. Your commitment to road traffic safety is crucial in making our roads safe for everyone”.
Magaji-Ingawa assured that the state government would continued to provide necessary resources, training and equipment to the agency to enable it to discharge its mandates.
Earlier, the Director-General of the agency, Maj. Garba Yahaya-Rimi (Rtd), said the training exercise was designed to expose the newly 304 wardens to basic knowledge on road traffic rules, to prevent them from having problem with road users.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the exercise is being organised by the state government in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
