The Commander Infantry Corps (CIC), Major General GM Mutkut OFR, has charged the newly decorated senior officer, Brigadier General Ibrahim Yusuf, to decisively justify the confidence reposed in him by the Army hierarchy.
This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen by Lt. Col. Ajemasu Jingina, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Headquarters Infantry Corps, on 9 December 2025.
He said Major General Mutkut gave the charge on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, during the investiture ceremony of the promoted senior officer at the Lieutenant General AO Ihejirika Auditorium, Jaji Military Cantonment.
He congratulated Brigadier General Yusuf on his well-deserved elevation, explaining that while promotion ultimately comes from the Almighty, individuals must actively meet God’s grace through dedication and hard work.
“Promotion comes from God alone,” he stated, “but as an individual, you must do your own part by working hard before God will crown your efforts.”
He added that the newly promoted officer must continue to maintain his high standard of service, emphasising that consistent commitment to the system guarantees its support in return.
“Continue giving your best to the system, and the system will definitely take care of you,” he emphasised.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Brigadier General Yusuf expressed profound gratitude, attributing his elevation first to the Almighty Allah for the gift of life and His mercy.
He said he was particularly grateful to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General W. Shaibu NAM, for finding him worthy of the significant rank elevation.
He added that the strategic guidance and mentorship he received from the CIC, Major General Mutkut, and other senior officers had been instrumental in shaping him into a better officer.
He further appreciated his family for their unwavering prayers and support throughout all phases of his career, and thanked all distinguished guests who graced the occasion.
The ceremony was attended by senior military officers, including the CIC, Major General GM Mutkut OFR; the Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Infantry; the Chief of Staff, Headquarters Infantry Corps; and the Deputy Commandant, Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre, Brigadier General HY Ibrahim, among other distinguished guests.
