The Zamfara State Internal Revenue Service (ZIRS) has taken a significant step toward enhancing taxpayer experience and promoting inclusive tax administration through a staff training on Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) held in Kaduna State.
The Executive Chairman of the ZIRS, Hajiya Rakiya Dodo, demonstrated visionary leadership by sponsoring the training aimed at equipping participants with international best-practice skills to engage taxpayers effectively and manage complaints professionally.
The program focused on documenting grievances, analyzing taxpayer feedback, and creating a welcoming environment for resolving complaints.
By institutionalising the GRM, ZIRS seeks to promote inclusiveness, gender mainstreaming, and public trust in tax administration.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Program Lead of the Tax Justice and Governance Platform, Sadiq Mustapha, commended the Executive Chairman’s unwavering commitment, noting ZIRS is the first revenue agency to sponsor such training for its staff.
This milestone, according to stakeholders, underscores the Executive Chairman’s dedication to professionalism, excellence, and continuous improvement in building a responsive and people-centered tax system in Zamfara State.
