The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army and Commander, Sector 1 Joint Task Force, Operation FASAN YAMMA, Major General Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed Wase, has honoured participants of the Division who emerged second position in the just-concluded Nigerian Army Inter-Formation Marathon Competition 2025.
The event, held at the 1 Division Auditorium, Kaduna, featured formal presentation of the trophy to the GOC by the Division Training Officer, Brigadier General AH Gwani, who is the team leader for the competition.
In his remarks, Major General Wase commended the team for their outstanding performance, resilience, and sportsmanship, which, he noted, reflect the Division’s tradition of excellence and discipline. He described the achievement as a demonstration of troops’ physical fitness, determination, and commitment in upholding the core values of the Nigerian Army.
The GOC urged them to sustain the momentum and continue striving for excellence in future competitions. He emphasized that such accomplishments contribute to the overall operational readiness and esprit de corps among the troops.
Major General Wase made special presentations of a token to each participating troops for their gallant performance and dedication. The gesture, he said, was aimed at encouraging healthy competition, teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence among personnel.
High point of the event good include goodwill messages and the display of the trophy amidst cheers and applause from officers and soldiers of the Division.
