Kaduna Judiciary Moves to Reform High Court Civil Procedure Rules

The Chief Judge of Kaduna State, Justice M. T. M. Aliyu, has taken a major step toward reforming the Kaduna State High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules through the submission of a comprehensive review report.

In a statement issued to newsmen on Saturday in Kaduna, the report was said to be presented by the Committee on the Review of the Kaduna State High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, which was inaugurated on May 10, 2024, by the  Chief Judge. 


The Committee was tasked with updating the existing Rules to reflect contemporary developments in civil procedure and improve the efficient administration of justice in the State.

During the presentation, the Chairman of the Committee, Justice Isa Aliyu, explained that the Committee had carefully examined the provisions of the current Rules, identified areas requiring reform, and proposed key amendments to ensure faster and fairer determination of civil cases before the High Court.

In his remarks, the Chief Judge commended the Committee for its diligence, industry, and commitment in carrying out the assignment. He described the review as a vital and timely intervention that will align Kaduna State’s judicial procedures with evolving standards and best practices across Nigerian jurisdictions.

Justice Aliyu assured that the recommendations in the report would receive careful consideration and that appropriate steps would be taken to publish and implement the revised Rules.

The submission of the report marks a significant milestone in the Kaduna State Judiciary’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the administration of justice and enhance procedural efficiency in civil adjudication.
