Safe The Soul Transparency and Eagle Eyes International Foundation, a Non-Governmental organization, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun against CP Ohiozoba Oyakhire Ehiede.
In a copy of the petition signed by National Coordinator of the NGO, Mr Bolaji Mustapha and issued to newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja, he alleged that Ehiede falsified his service records and date of birth to delay retirement.
According to him, Ehiede's original date of birth was listed as April 18, 1965, in the police staff list of August 2023.
Mustapha, however, said when Ehiede was promoted to Commissioner of Police in 2024, his date of birth was changed to September 18, 1965.
"This change extended his retirement date from April 18, 2025, to September 18, 2025,"he said.
He claimed that, such act is a gross violation of Rule 100402(a) of the Public Service Rules 2021, while calling for a discreet investigation into the matter.
The National Coordinator noted that while the police have taken punitive actions against other officers for similar offenses, Ehiede's position as head of the legal section makes his actions particularly egregious.
"As the head of the legal section, Ehiede is expected to uphold the law and ensure justice is done,"he emphasised
He also emphasised the need for transparency and accountability in the Nigeria Police Force, believing that a thorough investigation will reveal the truth behind the alleged falsification.
By investigating the matter, Mustapha said the IGP would demonstrate commitment to upholding the integrity of the police force, requesting that the investigation be overseen to prevent any potential cover-up.
Newsmen reports that the NGO, attached copies of the 2023 and 2025 staff lists of police officers to support their claims.
