AFIT offer free medical services in Kaduna community

The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), on Saturday, offered free medical services to Hayin Banki community in Kaduna metropolis.
The programme will also feature distribution of mosquito nets to combat malaria and nutritional support for malnourished children, adding that ready-to-use therapeutic foods (RTUFs) would be distributed to ensure that no child suffers the devastating effects of malnutrition.
The Commandant of the AFIT AVM Sani Rabe said: "We are committed to improving the health and well-being of our host communities.
"We see it as our duty to contribute actively to the health and welfare of our neighbours, ensuring that our impact resonates beyond the confines of our campus.
"We are committed to helping individuals understand their health status.
"Today, we extended this noble mission to Hayin Banki, an integral part of our surrounding community."
Rabe explained that the outreach was not just a one-day event but it was a testament to AFIT's dedication to supporting and uplifting the lives of the people who live around the institution.
He said as a military institution with a strong academic foundation, their responsibilities go beyond education and research.
"We see it as our duty to contribute actively to the health and welfare of our neighbours, ensuring that our questions impact resonates beyond the confines of our campus," he said
The commandant said that the programme was comprehensive, aimed to address a wide spectrum of health needs.
He said the outreach had been made possible by the concerted efforts of AFIT's medical team and its partners, including the Kaduna State Primary Healthcare Development Agency.
"Your support and generous contributions have been invaluable in making this event a reality.
"Let me use this medium appeal to the community to take full advantage of the services provided today, because health is a vital asset,
"AFIT is here to ensure that you and your families have access to quality healthcare services," he noted.
The commandant lauded AFIT medical team and community leaders for their collaboration and support.
"Together, we are building a healthier and more resilient community, "Rabe said.
Earlier in his remarks the Sarki Hayin Banki Mamuda Shehu-Galadima, who spoke on behalf of the community, appreciated AFIT for the choice of his community for the free medical services.
Shehu-Galadima urged the community to ensure high sense of decorum while receiving the treatment and assured the institution of more collaboration.
Mrs Hafsat Abubakar one of the beneficiaries, appreciated the institution for giving her treated mosquito net, saying that it would protect her and her children from mosquito bite.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the medical services offered included; medical consultations, screening for hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and HIV as well as early detection saves live campaign.
Others are maternal and child care, surgical interventions and minor surgeries, including removal of lumps, hernia, among others, will be conducted to alleviate suffering and improve quality of life.
