The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Friday offered free medical services to NAF Veterans in Kaduna.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the medical outreach 2024 for veterans resident in Kaduna was conducted by Air Training Command, Kaduna Nigerian Air Force.
NAN also report that the medical services included general consultation, diabetes, blood pressure and eye screening, including issuance of prescription eyeglasses, and cataract screening.
The Commander, 461 NAF Hospital Kaduna, Group Capt. Ahmed Saidu, said that the medical services was the first of its kind to be offered to the veterans.
He said that the gesture was in commemoration of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration. He thanked the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, for the laudable initiative.
One of the beneficiaries, Retired Wing Cmdr. Asmau Abdullahi, also thanked the air force for the gesture, saying it showed the veterans were not forgotten.
Abdullahi said most of veterans did not know the medical problems they have until the medical outreach.
Describing the medical outreach as a long history in the military, Retired Master Warrant Officer (MWO) Yusuf Usman, commended the force for the outreach.
NAN report that the two days event will feature free basic medical screening and a seminar for the veterans.(NAN)
