The Secretary to the Katsina State Government, Alhaji Abdullahi Faskari, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating drug abuse in the state.
Faskari said this on Wednesday, when he received some top officials of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
According to him, the administration of Gov. Dikko Radda has given more attention to fighting insecurity, drug abuse and other related social vices in the state.
He further said that due to the State Government’s commitment in this area, the governor recently led security operatives in an operation to boost their morals.
Faskari said that the State Government is always ready to collaborate with the NDLEA and other security agencies to keep the state free from crimes.
He gave assurance that the government was also ready to provide necessary support to NDLEA for its fight against the menace to succeed.
According to Faskari, if the NDLEA succeeds in its war against drug abuse, especially among youths and women, the State Government also succeeds.
In a remark, the Special Assistant to the NDLEA Chairman, Col. Yakubu Bako (rtd.), said their visit was to commend the State Government for its efforts in fighting drug abuse.
He said that the visit was also aimed at strengthening the existing good relationship between the NDLEA and Katsina State Government in making the youths better.
Bako said he was in the state to represent the NDLEA Chairman, Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd.), at the passing out parade of their trained personnel.
He expressed Marwa’s appreciation to the State Government for its support towards the success of the training of the recruits.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Bako was accompanied by the NDLEA Deputy Commander General, Mr Hamza Umar, and the State Commander, Mr Hassan Sani-Abubakar, among others. NAN
