Nigeria military key factor to national development – Retired AVM

By Mohammed Tijjani

AVM Ebenezer Alade, immediate-past Commandant, Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna, said the military had ,over the years, established itself as key factor to the development of the country.

Alade, who stated this during his pull-out ceremony in Jaji on Friday, observed that  the Nigeria military had evolved from its humble beginnings to the present status as regional force under a democratic political authority.

According to him, the military has improved tremendously in its relations with the civil society, and in its ability to meet security obligations locally and internationally.

He said that these feats could be attributed to the resilience and dedication of officers and men, as well as the support provided by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The retired commandant said he was touched by the affection and loyalty displayed towards him by colleagues since his retirement.

“I must confess that I am highly touched by the affection and loyalty displayed towards me by everyone present here since my retirement.

“When I started my military career about 38 years ago, I never had any inclination that it will end up on a high note like this.

“All honour and appreciation to the almighty God, who made it possible for me to stand and witness this unique ceremony in my honour.

“At this point, I must recognise the sacrifices of my course mates and other colleagues that paid the supreme price, either flying, or on the battle field, in defence of our dear nation.

“May their gentle souls contiue to rest in peace as we remember them always, “Alade said.

He expressed gratitude to the College Commandant, AVM Olurotimi Tuwase, institutional heads in Jaji military cantonment, as well as all the 34 members of regular course, for honouring him.
