Report by Sani Idris Abdulrahman
The Kaduna State Government has recorded another milestone in its ongoing infrastructure expansion, with the full completion of the access road to the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, alongside significant progress on road projects in Kwoi, Jaba Local Government Area.
This, was disclosed by Dr. Abdullahi Baba-Ahmed, the Managing Director of the Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA).
He recalled that the Kachia university access road, which was initiated in October 2025, is now delivered in its entirety.
He said the project featured high-quality asphalt surfacing, functional street lighting, clear road markings, and modern safety signage in line with current transport standards.
For students, staff, and residents in Kachia and surrounding communities, the transformation has been immediate and impactful. What was once a difficult and time-consuming route has become a smooth and durable roadway, significantly improving daily commuting and reducing travel time.
The enhanced accessibility is also expected to support increased academic activities and ease logistics for the growing university population.
Meanwhile, in Jaba Local Government Area, asphalt works on the Kwoi road project have reached an advanced stage, with overall completion now at 92 per cent.
Baba-Ahmed said that the project, which was flagged off on September 11, 2025, by Governor Uba Sani, is being executed by PW Nigeria Ltd and remains on track for delivery before the end of the month.
He listed the roads under construction located at Kwoi, Audu Tilo Road, Sabon Gari Road, Dr. Sani Road, Hospital Road, and Emir Road.
These developments, the MD, said marked a significant turnaround for Jaba LGA, which had not recorded a single kilometre of completed road project in the past 12 years.
"Together, the Kachia and Kwoi projects form part of a broader infrastructure drive by the Uba Sani's administration, which has so far delivered and initiated 150 road projects spanning 1,345 kilometres within the first two and a half years in office.
"The initiative is aimed at improving connectivity between urban and rural areas while unlocking economic opportunities linked to efficient transportation networks.
"Beyond easing mobility, these projects are expected to enhance safety through improved visibility and traffic guidance, while also stimulating local economies,"Baba-Ahmed said.
Newsmen reports that increased movement of goods and services is anticipated to benefit traders and small businesses, boosting commercial activity and livelihoods across the affected communities.
Civil society groups have commended the administration’s consistent focus on infrastructure, pointing to visible progress in Kachia, Kwoi, and other parts of the state as evidence of sustained delivery.
They note that such strategic investments not only fulfill development promises but also lay a solid foundation for long-term growth and improved quality of life for residents.
