WASA: DHQ Director lauds NASA’s role in tackling insecurity in Southern Kaduna

 

 

 The Director of Procurement, Defence Headquarters, Maj.-Gen. Mukhtar Adamu, has commended the Nigerian Army School of Artillery (NASA) for sustaining high professional standards and contributing significantly to improved security in Southern Kaduna.

Adamu gave the commendation on Saturday  in Kachia while speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the 2025 West African Social Activities (WASA) organised by NASA.

He described WASA as an annual Nigerian Army tradition that celebrates Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity, promotes unity and fosters esprit de corps among personnel and their families.

According to him, the event provides a relaxed atmosphere for officers and soldiers to bond with their families despite the demands of military duties.

The senior officer expressed satisfaction with the training activities conducted by the school, including Ex Vulcan Glow XI and Ex Mugun Bugu IV, noting that the Corps had maintained the professional standards it is known for.

He said the school, in collaboration with other security agencies, had contributed meaningfully to the fight against banditry and other crimes in Southern Kaduna, leading to reduced criminal activities and restoration of normalcy in Kachia and its environs.

Adamu appreciated the sacrifices of personnel in the defence of the nation and prayed for the repose of the souls of fallen heroes, while assuring their families of continued welfare support.

He urged officers and soldiers to remain committed to training, loyal to constitutional authority, apolitical and professional in the discharge of their duties as they commence activities for 2026.

Earlier, the Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Artillery, (NASA), Maj.-Gen. Adamu Hassan, said the combined WASA of NASA, the Artillery Corps Depot Area (ACADA) and 305 Demonstration Regiment was organised to mark the end of the year and strengthen bonds among officers, soldiers and their families.

Hassan traced the origin of WASA to the era of the West African Frontier Force, explaining that it had evolved into an enduring Nigerian Army tradition that celebrates culture and unity.

He said various cultural and traditional displays lined up for the event were presented by soldiers and their families within the barracks, expressing optimism that guests would look forward to future editions.

The commandant also recognised troops deployed in various theatres of operation for their efforts in ensuring peace and stability across the country, attributing their successes to effective leadership and execution.

He commended the Chief of Army Staff for his visionary leadership and appreciated officers, soldiers and their families, as well as the planning committee, for their commitment to the success of the event.

Hassan assured personnel of improved welfare and sustained training, while formally welcoming guests to the occasion.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event featured colourful cultural dances, musical performances and other traditional displays by personnel and their families.

NAN also reports that award were given to personnel who distinguished themselves in the year 2025.
