International Girl Child Day: PLANE organises mentorship session for 50 school girls in Kaduna

In commemoration of the International Girl Child Day 2024, the Partnership for Learning for all in Nigeria (PLANE), has urged the government and parents to take issues related to the girl child seriously.
The Team Lead of PLANE in Kaduna, Mrs Diana Agabi, made the call on Tuesday in Kaduna during a mentorship dialogue for girls organised in collaboration with the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (KADSUBEB).
Agabi emphasised that girls around the world are facing mariads of challenges that is hindering their growth in life, hence the need to mentor the younger ones so as to equip them with the knowledge to overcome such challenges in life.
In a remark, the Safeguarding Advisor of PLANE, Hadiza Nasir, said that the session is part of their effort to encourage girls to have confidence in their ability to be where they want to be in life.
She added that the event was organised to support the Kaduna state government in its effort towards educating the girl child in the state through mentorship and interactions with women who accomplished so much in life.
Highlighting the importance of the event, the Desk Officer Gender Inclusivity Education of KADSUBEB, Hajiya Hauwa Muhammad, said the event would inspire the girls to be themselves.
She stated that the Kaduna state government is working to ensure that every girl child is in school.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the session had 50 girl students across different schools in Kaduna where they shared session with career women to learn about their challenges and how they overcome them to be where they are today.
Highlight of the event was the adornment of colours on the wall to signify resilience of the girl child.(NAN)
