Some residents of Zone E Extension, Road 1, Angwan Tiv Junction in Apo, Abuja, have expressed concern over the ongoing construction on a designated green area in the community.

The residents, in a communique issued in Abuja on Thursday, said that the development on plot 3739, if allowed to continue, would impact on the welfare of the neighbourhood.

According to them, the development, consisting of multiple and disjointed buildings on the plot, is being executed with gross disregard for general setbacks, and building lines among other concerns.

The residents said that they have forwarded the complaints to the Federal Capital Territory Administration and the Federal Capital Development Authority.

“We have appealed to the authorities to ensure that the development does not constitute a nuisance to the neighbourhood in the near future,” the residents said.

Responding, the Site Supervisor, Mr Temitope Ajibade, dismissed the claim that the development was on a green area.

According to him, the plot, belonging to Maraba International Services, owned by a senior military officer was a commercial plot and not a green area.

He said that the military officer has valid documents issued by FCT authorities on the land.
