The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman, has reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to early planning, effective coordination and strict adherence to procedures for the 2026 Hajj exercise.

Ahmad Muazu, the Technical Assistant (Media), Office of the Chairman/CEO, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), made this known in a statement issued to newsmen.

Usman said NAHCON remained aligned with the policy direction of the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises the welfare and spiritual well-being of Nigerian pilgrims.

He noted that the Commission, under the supervision of Vice President Kashim Shettima, was focused on the timely completion of all critical preparatory activities, with priority given to the early conclusion of state pilgrims’ accommodation arrangements in Makkah, in line with Saudi regulatory timelines.

The NAHCON boss disclosed that a high-level executive delegation had been authorised for immediate deployment to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to provide executive oversight and finalise all pending accommodation arrangements in Makkah.

According to him, the delegation will ensure full compliance with Saudi regulations and mitigate potential operational delays ahead of the 2026 Hajj.

The delegation, led by the Chairman/CEO, includes Prof. Abubakar A. Yagawal, Commissioner for Planning, Research, Statistics, Information and Library Services; Sheikh Muhammad Bin Uthman, Board Member, North West Zone; Dr Tajudeen Oladejo, Board Member, South West Zone; Hajiya Aishat Obi Ahmed, Board Member, South East Zone; and Dr Mustapha Mohammed Ali, Secretary of the Commission.

Usman said the team was mandated to conclude all accommodation arrangements and submit a comprehensive report to the Commission immediately after completing the assignment.

He added that he would remain in Nigeria to receive the Saudi Arabian Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, who is expected to visit the country this month, while coordinating the delegation’s activities.

The NAHCON chairman said the Commission had activated internal governance, coordination and oversight mechanisms to ensure accountability, procedural compliance and effective execution of all preparatory activities.

He said this included sustained engagement with board members, senior management, service providers and relevant Saudi authorities to ensure adherence to approved timelines and applicable regulations.

Usman emphasised that all actions undertaken by NAHCON were derived from its statutory mandate as Nigeria’s Hajj regulatory body, adding that decisions of the Commission were institutional, guided by due process and collective responsibility.

He assured stakeholders and intending pilgrims that NAHCON remained focused on delivering a hitch-free 2026 Hajj by strengthening its systems, improving planning discipline and enhancing professionalism in line with international best practices.

Usman also said the Commission would continue to issue official updates through its established communication channels as preparations for the 2026 Hajj progress.
