KADSWAC Commits to Improving Water Supply in Jema'a Local Government Area

In a significant development for water and sanitation services in Jema'a Local Government Area, the Managing Director of the Kaduna State Water Corporation (KADSWAC), Engr. Kabiru, led a joint team from the Sustainable Urban and Rural Water Supply, Sanitation, and Hygiene (SURWASH) initiative on an advocacy visit to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Peter Tanko.

Represented by the Director of Water Supply at KADSWAC, the MD announced that comprehensive arrangements have been finalized to rejuvenate the water sector in Jema'a and other regions of Kaduna State.

This initiative marks a transformational step toward achieving Nigeria's objective of ensuring all citizens have access to sustainable, safely managed water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services.

Engr. Kabiru highlighted that the program aims to increase access to water, sanitation, and hygiene services while strengthening institutional frameworks across two key result areas in the participating states. In Kaduna, the program will be implemented in six local government areas: Chikun, Igabi, Soba, Sabon Gari, Jaba, and Jema'a.

He further emphasized that the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, is deeply invested in the welfare of the citizens, reinforcing his dedication to enhancing the water sector.

The MD urged the community to take ownership of the facilities to ensure long-term sustainability.

In response, Hon. Peter Tanko expressed the Council's firm commitment to owning and managing the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) facilities once they are established in the local government area.

The visiting team conducted site assessments across multiple locations in Jema'a to identify potential interventions for water facility provision.

Their engagement with community members was aimed at fostering a sense of ownership, protection, and sustainability for the initiatives.

Feedback from community stakeholders was overwhelmingly positive, with strong assurances of their commitment to safeguarding the facilities post-establishment.

This collaborative effort highlights the essential role of local ownership and community involvement in the success and sustainability of WASH services.

The community looks forward to the anticipated impact of the sub-project in the area. The sites visited included KASU, Takau, Ungwan Fari, and Ungwan Vio.
