A Coalition of Civil Society Organisations of Nigeria has called on Nigerians to support the leadership of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) led by Mr Mele Kyari.
The Chairman of the coalition, Mr Friday Maduka, made this call on Friday at a news conference in Abuja.
Maduka who is also the chairman, Niger Delta Amalgamated Supreme Concourse, spoke against the back drop of a call for the sack of Kyari by a youth coalition.
``We wish to alert Nigerians about the activities of the agents of distortion, and disinformation to berate hard working Nigerians who are patriotically carrying out their mandates.
``At an extraordinary emergency meeting of the National Coordinating Convention ( NCC) of the Forum of Civil Society Organisations' of Nigeria and Intelligence report, we discovered the allegations against Kyari to be grossly unfounded and baseless.
``Therefore based on our findings we resolved to give Kyari a clean bill of health against the gross distortions of his progressive milestones attained.
``For the record, Mele Kyari is fully in tandem with his mandate and is meticulously and assiduously coordinating his act with the policies and mandates of the federal government.
According to him, in his well-publicized apologia in March 2024 with respect to the resumption of petroleum production, Mele Kyari fired the imagination of all Nigerians to the possibility of full petroleum production.
``After the Turn Around Maintenance (TAM ) Processes, Mechanical Completion of Refinery, Test Run, Regulatory Compliance Processes in consonance with the intellectual, technical and philosophical principles.
``Which undergird production which effectuates into affordable petrol to the Nigeria people.
``He is running with the vision and has never abandoned that progressive vision despite the strictures of the Nigerian system and the bureaucratic red tapism of certain sectors of the oil industry,’’ Maduka said.
Maduka explained that the criticism against the NNPC boss was engineered by ``certain actors who were not prepared to endure scrutiny of their untoward, irregular actions and underhand deals are basically crying wolf’’.
The group therefore urged all well-meaning Nigerians to give the NNPC boss and the corporation the required support and goodwill to make the organisation deliver on its mandate to the nation.(NAN)
