1 Division Nigerian Army has concluded it's Inter-Brigade Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers Competitions 2024. The keenly contested competition hosted by 31 Artillery Brigade from 19 - 23 June 2024 had 3 Brigade Kano, 31 Artillery Brigade Minna and 1 Division Garrison Kaduna in participation with respective formations showcasing exceptional leadership, technical prowess, and teamwork during the competition.
The Special Guest of Honour and General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army Major General MLD Saraso who was represented by the Commander 31 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General HD Bobbo stated that the 1 Division will continue to implement various training programmes and competitions in line with the Army headquarters directives and calendar of events.
He reiterated that new skills will continue to be acquired, areas of weakness will be strengthened and worked upon.
He added that in line with the Chief of Army Staff Command Philosophy which is " To Transform the Nigerian Army into a well - Trained, Equipped and Highly Motivated Force Towards Achieving our Constitutional Responsibilities within a Joint Environment", the Nigerian Army must continue to engage in training and retraining of officers and soldiers in order to sharpen their professional competence, especially in the face of the current security challenges in the country.
Earlier in his goodwill message, the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Dr. Umoru Farouk Bahago commended the Nigerian Army for living up to expectations in its war against terrorism Insurgency, violent extremists and other criminal elements across the country.
The Emir added that the security challenges in the country have over stretched the Nigerian Army but pointed out that their sacrifices towards ensuring peace and security in the country will never be in vain.
The competitions ended with the 3 Brigade Kano, emerging the overall winner with a total score of 380 points, the host, 31 Artillery Brigade Minna came second with 370 points while 1 Division Garrison Kaduna came third, having scored 330 points
The respective formations competed in Skill at Arms/Weapon Handling, Skills at Arms/Shooting, Combat Swimming, Map Reading and Physical Fitness/Obstacle Crossing.
