Kaduna: NGO trains 40 men, women on promoting peace through digital platforms

YandyTech Community Initiative with support from Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF,) and Leap Africa, has trained over 40 young men and women in Kaduna State on promoting the message of peace in their Communities and State through the use of digital platforms.
The Project Manager of Kaduna Digital Peace Promotion Advocates Project (KADPAP), Abubakar Mohammad asserted this while speaking to the media in Kaduna.
According to him, the Booth camp is to build the capacity of the advocates on digital peacebuilding, advocacy, communication skills, Town hall meetings, and peace and conflict resolution in Kaduna State.
Abubakar stressed that Social media has been a tool used in disseminating information both negatively and positively of which youths as the majority in Nigeria, need sensitization on how to promote peace in their communities through digital platforms.
Abubakar said that the advocates are to return to their communities and report real-life stories happening in their communities and ensure a positive response through community-based Town Hall meetings with stakeholders in their communities to sensitize the people on the power of digital media.
“In January, we called for applications and put a process to select 40 advocates out of over 126 applicants from the 23 LGA of the State. The selection focused on conflict-affected areas like Kagarko, Birnin Gwari, Lere, Giwa, Kachia, Sabon Gari, Zaria, Igabi, and Kaduna North and South.”(NAN)
