The Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has called on the APC acting National Chairman, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje to resign to enable the North Central occupy the seat.
Hussaini Shuaibu, the
Deputy Publicity Secretary of the NYCN, made the call in a statement issued to newsmen on Wednesday in Kaduna.
Frowning at the contineous leadership of Ganduje as the Acting National Chairman of the APC, Shuaibu recalled that he (Ganduje) assumed the Acting Chairmanship of the party after the voluntary resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Adamu as the Chairman of the party in July 2023.
He noted that it was wrong in the first place for President Tinubu to endorse the appointment of Ganduje as the party Chairman knowing fully that the Chairmanship of the party ought to be retained in the North Central, which is the zone of the erstwhile Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Adamu.
This, he said has led to dissatisfaction and disunity among a lot of loyal party members in the North.
Speaking further, the NYCN’s Deputy Public Secretary said that “To make things even worse, Ganduje has used and abuse the office with impunity to influence some key Federal Government appointments to his family, friends and allies just like he did when he he was Governor of Kano State.
“Reliable information given to us by insiders in the APC National Headquarters has it Ganduje has arranged and planned to pay some youths who lack fucus and understanding of political inclusion to attack us for financial benefit,”he alleged.
He however, assured those youth of the NYCN’s readiness to confront and resist any person or group of persons planning this shameful confrontation.
“We will not be intimidated or distracted on this course,”he vowed.
Shuaibu called on Ganduje to as a matter of urgency step down to allow the exalted position to be occupied by a competent person from the North Central in order to allow for justice and fairness.
“Failure to relinquish his position in the next seven working days, we will be compelled to mobilize thousand party faithfuls and support groups to protest and shut down the APC National Headquarters in Abuja until the Acting Chairman resigns,”.
He also called on all party faithfuls and support groups who have shown interest in the course to remain calm and resolute till the NYCN give further directives.
