Pulse.ng : ADC Summit in Kaduna Advocates for National Redirection

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) emphasized the urgent need for Nigeria to undergo a significant redirection away from flawed democracy to effectively tackle present-day challenges.

During a mega National Working Committee (NWC) summit which held Thursday in Kaduna, the party criticized the irresponsible cost of governance in the country.

Addressing the one-day summit at the Arewa House, Kaduna, the National Chairman of ADC, Chief Ralph Nwosu, expressed concern over the state of affairs in Nigeria, which he believed strayed from the vision of the nation's founding fathers.

He stressed the importance of revitalizing political parties to lead the democratic system effectively.

Nwosu clarified that the purpose of the gathering was not to form a merger to challenge the ruling party in 2027 but rather to address internal challenges and seek common ground to strengthen opposition parties, thus safeguarding Nigeria's 25-year-old democracy.

He Highlighted the pressing issues facing the country, Nwosu cited rampant corruption and irresponsible governance as major concerns that affect every citizen.

He underscored the importance of political parties as the bedrock of democracy and called for a revival of their foundational role.

Under the theme "Solid Political Party Structure Critical to the Sustainability of the Democratic Process,"

The Summit Chairman, Muhammed Nalado, emphasized the need for collaboration among stakeholders to address the challenges facing smaller political parties in Nigeria.

Nalado urged unity among smaller political parties as a strategy to secure electoral victories at all levels.

He emphasized the imperative of sustaining democracy and ensuring that the people have a voice in governance.

In an interview, the National Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC), Yusuf Dantalle, stressed the importance of understanding the underlying issues to effectively address them.

He criticized the concentration of power in the hands of governors and advocated for reforms to empower citizens in decision-making processes.

On his part ,the ADC Chairman in Kaduna State, Ahmed Mustapha, highlighted the significance of the 2024 Kaduna Summit for the party's survival, not only in the state but also in the Northwest region.

He expressed optimism about the ADC's prospects in the 2027 elections, aiming to secure victory over the ruling APC.(NAN)
