Army to host combat arms training week in Kaduna

The Nigerian Army will hold its 2026 Combat Arms Training Week at Jaji Military Cantonment, Kaduna State, from May 4 to May 8.

In a statement on Thursday, Lt.-Col. Polycarp Okoye said the event would include pulling-out ceremonies for retired infantry generals.

He said activities would feature strategic lectures, static displays of infantry and armour equipment, and firepower demonstrations.

Okoye stated: “The annual exercise is aimed at enhancing combat readiness, operational efficiency and tactical proficiency of our formations and units.

“The event will also provide an opportunity to assess ongoing operations and review procedures for improved effectiveness.”

As part of humanitarian efforts, a free medical outreach will hold for Birnin Yaro residents on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Okoye urged residents not to panic during the exercise, saying, “There may be gunshots as part of the scheduled activities.”

He advised farmers, hunters and others to avoid the cantonment range and exercise areas throughout the training period.

He also called on media organisations to publicise the event and sensitise the public on necessary safety precautions(NAN)
