The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Literary, Poetry, Art, and Essay Competition is an annual event organized by the Nigerian Army.
The aim of the competition is to promote intellectual growth, stimulate creativity, and uncover hidden talents in young Nigerians. This year's theme, "The Nigerian Army: Securing the People and Promoting Development," drew participants from primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions across the six geopolitical zones.
The Nigerian Defence Academy Boarding Secondary School (NDABSS) recorded a proud moment as Miss Stephanie Nnadozie Chizaram emerged as the second overall best student in the 2025 COAS Art Competition. Miss Chizaram expressed her thoughts through painting, aligning with the theme. It is worth mentioning that another student from NDABSS, who wrote a poem on the same theme, reached the final ten but fell short of the requirements to be among the top three.
This remarkable achievement reflects NDABSS's dedication to providing quality education to its students and positioning the school for national and international recognition under the purposeful leadership and guidance of the Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Major General AK Ibrahim OFR, whose support for the school cannot be quantified.
The award was presented by COAS Lieutenant General Gen OO Oluyede NAM during the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL 2025) Lecture and Award Ceremony of the COAS Literary Competition, held on July 5, 2025, at the Nigerian Defence Academy Auditorium. The event was attended by former Chiefs of Army Staff, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Principal Staff Officers from Defence and Services Headquarters, Corps Commanders, NDA Commandant and other Commandants of Tri-Service and Military Training Institutions, General Officers Commanding, retired senior officers, military and paramilitary personnel, other distinguished personalities, and members of the fourth estate of the realm.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of souvenirs to invited guests, award presentations to the winners of the COAS Year 2025 Literary, Art, Essay, and Poetry Competition, as well as a group photograph.
