The Defence Minister, Muhammad Badarum, has charged Nigerians to continue in the spirit of patriotism, unity, and resilience.
Badaru made the appeal at the 38th Anniversary Dinner of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), 38 Regular Course, held at the Silver Sand Hotel on Saturday in Kaduna.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the minister was represented by the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa.
Badaru said, “With these challenging times for Nigeria, with evolving threats to our national security, I encourage us to continue in the spirit of patriotism, unity, and resilience.
“Let it also remind us of the enduring responsibility we all share in safeguarding the sovereignty and prosperity of Nigeria.”
He congratulated the members of the course on the momentous occasion of the 38th anniversary.
Badaru explained that 38 years of service to the nation, of sacrifice, and of leadership in the armed forces were no small feat.
”You have shown unparalleled dedication and commitment to the defence of our dear nation, Nigeria,” he said.
According to the minister, NDA has long been a beacon of excellence in military training, instilling the values of courage, discipline, and honour in all its graduates.
“As we gather here to celebrate the journey of the 38 Regular Course, we must also reflect on the immense contributions we have made.
”This is not just to our military institutions but to the very security and stability of Nigeria.
“Many of us have gone on to serve in various high-ranking capacities, both within and outside of the Nigerian Armed Forces, showcasing the high standard of leadership that this Academy has always championed.
“Tonight, we also honour those who are no longer with us—our fallen comrades—who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, “he said.
Badaru said their legacy lives on in the courage and resolve with which they continue to defend the nation.
The minister said the global security landscape was rapidly changing, and as veterans of the prestigious academy, their experience and leadership were more critical than ever.
Badaru said, “You have proven time and again that you possess the capacity to face and surmount any challenge, no matter how daunting.
”And as such, even in retirement, we shall continue to give our best for the good of the nation.
“In the words of Gen. Yakubu Gowon, ‘to keep Nigeria one is a task for all’.
He said the celebration reminded them of the bonds of camaraderie that were forged in the hallowed halls of the academy.
“I would like to congratulate all members of 38RC once again on reaching this significant milestone.
“Your service is a source of pride for the nation, and I am confident that the NDA 38 Regular Course will continue to be a symbol of honour and integrity in our military history, “Badaru said.
NAN reports that the highlight of the event was the presentation of awards and goodwill massage by the stakeholders.
